North Korea

North Korea Beach

Dear Reader,

North Koreans know how to enjoy life, just like you do in summer: they go to the beach too. This is probably the first place I’ve been in this country where nothing seemed staged and here is why

I agree it looks different from beach sides of Europe, but what I appreciated the most is how natural everything looked.

People seems genuine and happy to enjoy the hot weather. They arrive in all sort of vehicles, trucks, cars, busses even

It all looks like a camping site really with people setting up tents and parking along the main road

Unlike in Pyongyang, I did notice that people seemed less careful towards us and a lot more curious. They were curious to see the photos I took of them and checked them on the little screen. So friendly that not only they let us take photos of them but also had us joining them for random folkloric dance

If we had stopped more, we would have probably been invited to join their picnics too

The beauty of this place is the different people in it. Mostly families, big ones, having barbecues, picnics, dancing, kids running around. And yes, since it was  very hot day no surprised to see people looking for shade

The walk path eventually took us to the very end of the cliff where we could see boats as our last view before we went back to our group
